If only one USB port is functioning on your Dell Inspiron N5110 while the others are not, there could be several reasons behind this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to try and resolve it:

  1. Check Device Manager:

    • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    • Look for any yellow exclamation marks next to USB controllers. This could indicate a driver issue.
  2. Update USB Drivers:

    • Right-click on the USB controller with the issue and select "Update driver."
    • Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
  3. Restart Your Computer:

    • Sometimes, a simple restart can fix USB port issues.
  4. Check for Physical Damage:

    • Inspect the USB ports for any physical damage. Bent pins or debris inside the port can cause connectivity issues.
    • If you find any damage, you may need to contact Dell Support for repair options.
  5. Disable and Re-enable USB Controllers:

    • In Device Manager, right-click on each USB controller and select "Disable device," then re-enable it after a few seconds.
  6. Check Power Management Settings:

    • Right-click on each USB controller in Device Manager, go to Properties, and navigate to the Power Management tab. Ensure that the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
  7. Check BIOS Settings:

    • Restart your computer and enter BIOS settings (usually by pressing F2 or DEL during startup).
    • Look for any USB-related settings and ensure they are enabled.
  8. Test with Different Devices:

    • Try connecting different USB devices to the non-functioning ports to determine if the issue is with the port or the device.
  9. Perform a System Restore:

    • If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before the problem occurred.
  10. Hardware Troubleshooting:

    • If none of the above solutions work, there may be a hardware issue with the USB ports or the motherboard. In this case, contacting Dell Support or taking your laptop to a certified technician for inspection and repair would be advisable.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue with your USB ports on your Dell Inspiron N5110.
